Tillman was a candidate to be shut down, but he’s totaled only 168 innings this year between Triple-A Norfolk and the majors. His previous career high was 161 2/3 innings set last year. That’s not much of a strain.

Also, the Orioles don’t expect to receive Dr. Lewis Yocum’s opinion on Jake Arrieta’s right elbow until tomorrow. Showalter joked that most doctors don’t work on Sundays “unless you pay them well.”

Arrieta isn’t sure whether he’ll undergo surgery to remove a bone spur from his elbow. Yocum is looking over the MRI results.
