Josh Rupe made the Orioles’ roster in spring training by allowing only two runs in 14 2/3 innings. If I’m remembering correctly, he hadn’t been scored upon until his final appearance.
Rupe served up Alex Rodriguez’s 22nd career grand slam in the eighth inning tonight, increasing the Yankees’ lead to 13-3. He let three inherited runners score after replacing Clay Rapada, who replaced Jason Berken.

Such a nasty turnaround.
Rodriguez is one grand slam shy of Lou Gehrig’s all-time record.
Rapada is charged with three runs on one hit, two walks and Rodriguez’s big swing. His ERA balloons to 16.20.
In three starts, Brad Bergesen has allowed 10 runs (13 total) and 19 hits in 14 2/3 innings.
Brian Roberts extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a single in the eighth.
Hardly makes up for everything else that’s happened tonight.
Instant update: Rupe drilled Russell Martin between the numbers in the ninth, which didn’t go over well with the Yankees catcher. Brett Gardner followed with a two-run homer, which didn’t go over well with Rupe. Yankees 15, Orioles 3.
The Orioles hadn’t allowed five homers in a game since Sept. 1, 2009 against, YES, the Yankees.
