Adley Rutschman is serving today as the designated hitter and batting fifth in a lineup that the Orioles hope can provide enough runs to give them a series win over the Rays at Camden Yards.

The next eight games are on the road.

Rutschman made his major league debut last night and tripled in the seventh inning.

Trey Mancini is playing right field and Anthony Santander is in left. Austin Hays is out of the lineup.

Ramón Urías is the third baseman.

Spenser Watkins has made four career starts against the Rays and allowed 15 earned runs and 16 total with 27 hits in 21 innings.

Randy Arozarena is 4-for-7 against Watkins and 38-for-92 (.413) with 11 home runs and 25 RBIs in 23 games against the Orioles.

Corey Kluber faced the Orioles on April 10 in his Rays debut and shut them out over 4 2/3 innings. He’s 5-1 lifetime with a 2.94 ERA and 1.152 WHIP in 11 starts.

Rougned Odor is 4-for-11 with two home runs against Kluber. Cedric Mullins is 4-for-10. Hays is 2-for-7 with two home runs.

Outfielder Heston Kjerstad will begin playing in extended spring training games next week. He could report to the Florida Complex League but the eventual goal is Single-A Delmarva.

Terrin Vavra (hamstring) is close to beginning a rehab assignment in the low minors.

Grayson Rodriguez starts today for Triple-A Norfolk. Executive vice president/general manager Mike said there are a number of factors to consider before a promotion, including the shortened spring training and the need to carefully build up his innings.

The Orioles don’t want to shut him down later in the summer.
