Manager Dave Trembley told reporters in Oakland that Jim Johnson most likely would receive the bulk of the save opportunities. Kam Mickolio will work at the back end of the bullpen, giving Trembley a power arm late in the games.

Wigginton’s hitting .333 with two homers and a .667 slugging percentage. Lugo’s hitting .118 with a slugging percentage to match.

Down on the farm, last year’s first-round pick, Matt Hobgood, is shutting out Single-A Greensboro on three hits over five innings. He’s struck out three and walked none, and Delmarva is holding a 6-0 lead.

Hobgood update: Hobgood allowed two runs and six hits in 5 2/3 innings. He struck out four and walked none.

T.J. Baxter has homered twice and driven in four runs.

Triple-A Norfolk’s Rhyne Hughes has doubled twice and driven in a run, raising his average to .435 and extending his hitting streak to seven games. He’s serving as the designated hitter tonight, but has made five appearances in the outfield this season.

Double-A Bowie’s Chorye Spoone has held Akron to one run and three hits over six innings. He’s walked four and struck out one.
