I’m not sure what rates higher on the Shock Scale. You can decide.
The Orioles got a hit with a runner in scoring position. Adam Jones singled to score J.J. Hardy, who led off the game with a single off the Green Monster and advanced to second on Nick Markakis’ single.
Red Sox pitcher Andrew Miller deflected the ball, but couldn’t stop it from rolling into right field.

Matt Wieters walked with two outs and stole the first base of his major league career.
He didn’t uproot the bag and hold it over his head. That would have been classic.
Wieters was batting with two outs after Vladimir Guerrero grounded into a double play. Markakis scored, but Guerrero threw a wet blanket on the rally.
It’s refreshing to see the Orioles take a lead in the first inning. Playing from behind gets old after a while.
Update: They’re playing from behind.
Jake Arrieta walked the first two batters he faced in the bottom of the third, starting with No. 9 hitter Marco Scutaro, and Dustin Pedroia hit a three-run homer over the Green Monster.
Update II: They’re even.
Mark Reynolds and Nolan Reimold singled, Robert Andino laid down a sacrifice bunt and J.J. Hardy lifted a sacrifice fly.
And we’re only in the fourth inning.
