Just what the Orioles didn’t need.
Closer Alfredo Simon pulled up while covering first base in the bottom of the 10th, bringing head athletic trainer Richie Bancells and manager Dave Trembley from the dugout.
Simon kept holding his left hip. He limped off the field with Bancells at his side.
Simon retired all four batters he faced, and the Nationals couldn’t get the ball out of the infield. He induced a sharp grounder to first from former Oriole Willie Harris to open the 10th, and Luke…Just what the Orioles didn’t need.

He induced a sharp grounder to first from former Oriole Willie Harris to open the 10th, and Luke Scott made a diving stop and throw from his knees. Simon injured his leg as he was approaching the bag, but he got there in time to record the out.
Cla Meredith has replaced Simon.
Why can’t the good vibe last longer than a few minutes?
Update: Josh Willingham greeted Meredith with a home run into the Orioles’ bullpen in left-center field. Game over. Misery continues.
