Manager Buck Showalter said he’d wait until after the game to announce his choice. He needed to use Simon today.
Jakubauskas allowed one run over seven innings in his last start at Triple-A Norfolk on May 26. He’s allowed nine runs and 18 hits in 12 2/3 innings with the Orioles this season.
Jakubauskas hasn’t started a major league game since April 24, 2010 for the Pirates, when a Lance Berkman line drive nailed him in the head in the first inning.
