Simon gave up a single in the first and Richmond put the first two runners on base in the second when the leadoff man struck out, but reached on a passed ball and then a single followed. He got out of that, though, with a strikeout and double play grounder. Brandon Waring made a nice play at third and so did Robbie Widlansky at first on a low throw.
The right-handed starter gave up a walk, but nothing else in the third. Simon has thrown 41 pitches so far, 28 for strikes.
The Baysox took a 2-0 lead in the second, getting a pair of two-out, RBI singles from Pedro Florimon and Carlos Rojas. Bowie used three hits and a walk to get the 2-0 lead on Richmond lefty Ryan Verdugo, who entered with a record of 1-0 and 2.16 ERA.
