Almost lost in the euphoria of Adam Jones’ walk-off home run was reliever Alfredo Simon being credited with the win after retiring the Royals in order in the top of the ninth inning.
“It feels really good,” Simon said after pitching in his first major league game since Sept. 26. “That was my first outing and we got the win. I said, ‘Thank you,’ to Jonesy, who hit the home run. I am really happy right now.”

How…Almost lost in the euphoria of Adam Jones’ walk-off home run was reliever Alfredo Simon being credited with the win after retiring the Royals in order in the top of the ninth inning.
“It feels really good,” Simon said after pitching in his first major league game since Sept. 26. “That was my first outing and we got the win. I said, ‘Thank you,’ to Jonesy, who hit the home run. I am really happy right now.”
How did he feel out there?
“Good,” Simon said. “I just go up there and just try to do it like the thing I did last year. Just get the guy out. I just felt really comfortable.”
Simon said he wasn’t nervous.
“Not really,” he said. “There’s no reason to be nervous or whatever. I just tried to be the best I can because that’s my priority. I got good luck and I just win the game.”
Someone asked Simon if he’d get the game ball if the Orioles can retrieve it.
“I think Jonesy gets that ball,” he said.
Simon will settle for the win.
“I was happy to see him go out there,” Jones said. “It’s about time he got warmed up. He’s been here for three days. I’m excited for him. I want him to be here with us as long as he can. He’s part of our future. The entire team likes him here.”
