A win today by the Orioles would clinch their third winning homestand of the season. They are 3-3 so far here. They won homestands from May 18-26 (5-3) and June 3-12 (5-4).
J.J. Hardy’s 13-game hitting streak ended last night. He batted .339 during the streak. His career long streak was a 19-gamer in April and May of 2007.
The Orioles trailed today 4-1 into the last of the fourth before Vlad Guerrero and Matt Wieters hit back to back homers. That is No. 11 for Guerrero and No. 16 for Wieters, or five more than his previous career best.
Wieters also had an RBI double today. Counting today, over his last 11 games, Wieters is batting .421 (16-for-38) with five homers and 14 RBIs.
He entered today batting .340 with a slugging percentage of .621 and OPS of 1.051 this year against left-handed pitching and has both hits today off Jays southpaw Luis Perez.
