Duquette met again this morning with owner Peter Angelos, his third interview in three days. He returned to Baltimore yesterday after his initial meeting, making him only the second candidate to be interviewed more than once.
Duquette, the former Expos and Red Sox GM, was the sixth candidate to interview for the position vacated by Andy MacPhail, following Jerry Dipoto, Tony LaCava, De Jon Watson, Scott Proefrock and John Stockstill. He hasn’t been a major league executive since 2002.
LaCava turned down the Orioles’ offer, which expanded the search and led them to Duquette.
Update: The announcement date isn’t set in stone, but it’s expected to come Tuesday.
Most important, the search is over and the Orioles can fill other vacancies and plunge into free agency and talk trades. At least, that’s how I envision it.
Update II: A source told me earlier today that Duquette agreed to a three-year deal. We’ll get the details later this week.
