For many Orioles fans, Jon Miller will be the voice most associated with Camden Yards. He was the lead play-by-play radio broadcaster when the team moved downtown from 33rd Street, and his call of Cal Ripken’s 2,131st game is nothing short of iconic. It’s little wonder Miller was presented the Ford C. Frick Award for broadcasting excellence in 2010 by the Nationals Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y., joining legendary O’s voice Chuck Thompson (1993) on the roll of winners.

If you’re a fan of Miller’s dulcet style, you’ll be interested in a program planned Tuesday, May 22 and sponsored by Sports Legends Museum. Miller will be the focal point of the first program in the museum’s Summer Event Series celebrating the 20th anniversary of Camden Yards.
Miller will share his memories of Camden Yards and the Orioles in a question-and-answer session that begins at 6 p.m. in the Enoch Pratt Free Library’s Wheeler Auditorium. Miller was behind the microphone for the ballpark’s early years, from 1992-96, and has since worked for ESPN. He currently calls games for the San Francisco Giants.
Tickets to the event are $50 and include a cash bar from 5-6 p.m. before the presentation. For more information or to order tickets, please contact Whitney Edmonds at WhitneyE@BabeRuthMuseum.com or call 410-727-1539, ext. 3033.
