SARASOTA, Fla. – Orioles manager Buck Showalter will reveal his opening day starter before tonight’s game against Florida Southern.
Initially, Showalter told reporters that he’d wait until after the game, but he relented and promised to tell us sooner so we can interview the pitcher.
Jason Hammel apparently will pitch the third game on Sunday, but that’s not official. The rotation could be adjusted. Don’t write down anything in permanent marker.

Reliever Matt Lindstrom’s right hamstring isn’t sore today, and it appears that he’ll avoid the disabled list.
Tsuyoshi Wada will start Tuesday for the State College of Florida. The Orioles are supplying all the pitching for that side. Hammel will start for the Orioles.
The starters will play five innings tonight and Tuesday.
No cuts will be made tonight. The Orioles continue to check the waiver wire.
Update: As expected, Rule 5 pick Ryan Flaherty was told that he’s made the team. He’s pretty low-key, but it’s an emotional moment for him.
