Last night, the Chicago White Sox began their assault on Orioles starter Chris Tillman in the first inning by stringing together a single, home run, double, double and double.
Tillman was behind, 4-0, before recording his first out.
One night later, Orioles starter Alfredo Simon retired the first Detroit Tigers batter he faced before issuing a walk and allowing three consecutive singles.
Fortunately for Simon, the Tigers managed only one run, on Miguel Cabrera’s single into left field….Last night, the Chicago White Sox began their assault on Orioles starter Chris Tillman in the first inning by stringing together a single, home run, double, double and double.

Fortunately for Simon, the Tigers managed only one run, on Miguel Cabrera’s single into left field. Victor Martinez followed with a single that loaded the bases, but Jhonny Peralta bounced into a 5-3 double play.
Simon threw 20 pitches, 10 for strikes. His last pitch, a fastball, registered 95 mph on the stadium’s radar gun.
Instant update: Nolan Reimold walked to lead off the bottom of the first, and J.J. Hardy hit his 22nd home run, breaking a tie with Adam Jones.
Orioles 2, Tigers 1.
Hardy’s ball traveled an estimated 370 feet.
Update II: The Tigers scored again in the second inning to tie the game, 2-2. Simon has already thrown 55 pitches.
