SARASOTA, Fla. – It appears that the Orioles and Korean right-hander Suk-min Yoon are parting ways after one disappointing season in the minors.
According to a report out of Korea, Yoon has left Los Angeles and returned home. I have confirmation that he’s scheduled to report to minor league camp on Saturday, but it doesn’t appear that he’ll be returning to Sarasota.

The Orioles signed Yoon to a three-year, $5.575 million contract last February, but the deal didn’t pan out. Visa issues delayed Yoon’s arrival at spring training last year before he struggled through injuries and ineffectiveness with Triple-A Norfolk.
Yoon, 28, went 4-8 with a 5.74 ERA in 23 appearances (18 starts) with the Tides. The Orioles removed Yoon from the 40-man roster last August and he didn’t receive an invitation to major league camp this season. He also wasn’t part of the January minicamp.
I’ve talked to people who simply don’t believe he can get out major league hitters.
The question now is whether the Orioles will buy him out or the two parties have reached some other agreement to part ways.
My guess is Yoon will be placed on the restricted list and forfeit his salary.
More to follow.
Here’s the Rays’ lineup for their game today against the Orioles in Port Charlotte:
Tim Beckham 2B
John Jaso DH
Asdrubal Cabrera SS
Evan Longoria 3B
James Loney 1B
David DeJesus LF
Brandon Guyer RF
Kevin Kiermaier CF
Curt Casall C
Nathan Karns RHP
