Right-hander Max Scherzer, who had allowed just 2 ER over his previous three starts, continued his recent stellar pitching vs. the Orioles on Wednesday night.
Scherzer improved to 6-6, 4.61, as he gave up just six hits and one run over seven innings as the Tigers beat the Orioles, 4-2.
Detroit completed a three-game sweep as the O’s fell to 1-5 on their current road trip and 25-59 on the year.

Scherzer, who struck out six of the first ten batters he faced, has allowed 3 ER over his last four starts, pitching to an ERA of 0.98 in that stretch, with 29 strikeouts in 27 2/3 innings.
The O’s finally got to Scherzer in the seventh. Adam Jones hit a leadoff double and later came on to score on an error. Matt Wieters scored the second run with a sac fly in the ninth.
Felix Pie tripled in the fifth inning and Jones hit one in the ninth, giving the Orioles a triple in four consecutive games.
Losing pitcher Brad Bergesen falls to 3-6, 6.40 as he gave up 11 hits and four runs over six frames.
The O’s, who head to Texas for a four-game series starting Thursday night, have lost five in a row vs. the Tigers.
