The Yankees took a 2-0 lead only 10 pitches into tonight’s game.
Single, fly ball, double, double.
Groan.
Now the Orioles are playing from behind against Yankees left-hander CC Sabathia, who’s 14-2 with a 2.86 ERA against them.

Derek Jeter, batting .219 coming into the game, lined a single to right field. Mark Teixeira doubled to right with one out, and Alex Rodriguez doubled to right-center field on the next pitch from Orioles starter Brad Bergesen – an 84 mph slider – to deliver two runs.
Robinson Cano followed with an RBI single, extending his hitting streak to 12 games, and bringing pitching coach Mark Connor from the dugout. Cano was hitting .453 with 11 homers and 32 RBIs in 38 games against the Orioles since 2009.
He hasn’t cooled off.
Bergesen threw 26 pitches in the inning, the last one a 90 mph fastball that struck out Jorge Posada.
Robert Andino applied the late tag on Teixeira’s back after the double and hard slide, and he sort of leaned on the Yankees’ first baseman, who bolted straight up and was nose-to-nose with the Orioles’ shortstop. Teixeira appeared to say a few words, then Andino took over, his head bobbing as he vented.
Andino was fairly animated, and he continued to jaw at Teixeira while walking away from him.
It was the only part of the inning that I enjoyed.
