Now their next five games are against a Washington team leading the majors in team ERA and a Los Angeles club that ranks first in the American League in team ERA.

During the entire six-game trip, they had a total of six doubles, one homer and went 3-for-28 with runners in scoring position.

More notes on the O’s recent offense futility:
* They batted just .159 on the trip.
* They are 0-for-17 the last four games when batting with RISP.
* The Orioles never had more than six hits in one game on the trip.
* The Orioles hit .130 with three runs scored in the Mets series.

Some O’s hitting stats from the road trip:
* Chris Davis went 0-for-18.
* J.J. Hardy went 2-for-24.
* Mark Reynolds went 1-for-15.
* Steve Pearce went 3-for-16.
* Brian Roberts went 4-for-19.

On this homestand, the Orioles are facing two first-place teams in Washington and Cleveland, and a second-place club in Los Angeles.

Maybe not facing Gio Gonzalez and Stephen Strasburg will be a break for the Orioles this weekend. The Nats are 23-5 when one of those two pitchers is their starter, but 17-22 when anyone else takes the mound.

It’s a key homestand for the Orioles coming off a losing road trip. If the runs return, maybe the wins will, too.
