Chris Tillman put together perhaps one of the best starts of his big league career tonight, pitching the Orioles past Toronto 6-2 in front of 19,396 at Camden Yards.

Last Saturday at New York, Tillman looked strong early but then faded. This time, he was strong throughout, allowing just four hits and two runs over seven innings. He walked one and fanned five, throwing 93 pitches.

Last Saturday at New York, Tillman looked strong early but then faded. This time, he was strong throughout, allowing just four hits and two runs over seven innings. He walked one and fanned five, throwing 93 pitches.

Tillman improved to 3-4 with an ERA of 4.85. His seven-inning outing was one out shy of his career longest. He picked up his first win in the majors since May 11 against Seattle.

As well as Tillman was pitching, Brandon Morrow of the Blue Jays was topping him for five perfect innings of 15 up and 15 down pitching.

But the Orioles scored four in the sixth off him with help of one key homer and one huge error. With two on and one down, Robert Andino hit a grounder to short and Yunel Escobar had the ball glance off his glove as a run scored.

One out later, Adam Jones hit a three-run shot onto the flag court in right field for the 4-2 edge. Jones’ blast was his 20th homer, which is a new career high.

Jones has hit 17 of his 20 homers this year at home where he has an OPS of .930. Jones now has hit seven homers with 20 RBIs in 22 second-half games.

Jones added an RBI single as the Orioles scored twice in the eighth and his four-RBI game is a season high. Over his past 14 games, Jones is batting .368 with four homers and 13 RBIs.

The Orioles won for just the second time in eight games and the fourth time in the last 12 games. They improved to 4-7 on the year against Toronto and 14-30 against American League East teams.

In the series finale, Sunday afternoon, Alfredo Simon (3-4, 3.83) pitches against Ricky Romero (9-9, 2.98).
