The Orioles lose the opener of this six-game homestand to fall to 4-6.

Toronto took a 2-0 lead in the fourth and the rally was aided by shaky O’s defense. Jonathan Schoop made two throwing errors in the inning and the O’s failed to turn a potential 3-6-1…The Orioles had a tough night on offense and in the field, but a good night on the mound. Jonathan Schoop made two throwing errors in the inning and the O’s failed to turn a potential 3-6-1 inning-ending double play when Ryan Flaherty’s throw bounced past first base. The Blue Jays picked up one single and two unearned runs in the inning.

Chris Tillman was a real tough-luck losing pitcher. He went eight innings, giving up the two runs on just three singles. He walked one and fanned six, throwing 105 pitches. He falls to 1-1, but lowered his ERA to 0.84. He retired 14 of the last 15 batters he faced tonight as the Blue Jays went just 3-for-28 against him.

Winning pitcher Dustin McGowan gave up five hits over 6 1/3 scoreless innings. He entered tonight’s game with a 6.99 career ERA against the Orioles and coming off a start where he gave up four runs over 2 2/3 frames against the Yankees.

The O’s get blanked after batting .400 and scoring 19 runs in the last two games of the New York series. Bud Norris faces the Jays Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. in the second game of the series.
