My daughter has her first SAT prep class today, which begins at 9 a.m. and lasts 4 1/2 hours. And honestly, what else would a teenage girl want to do on a Saturday morning? You can imagine her excitement. Bet she could barely sleep last night.

Manager Buck Showalter told reporters a few days ago that there was a 90 percent chance of rain today. The Orioles could be facing a doubleheader tomorrow because they don’t come back to…So much for sleeping in on a Saturday morning.

Also, according to The Sun’s Jeff Zrebiec, Koji Uehara told Japanese reporters after last night’s loss that he’s available to pitch again today if he’s needed. That would be significant, since Showalter has avoided using him on back-to-back days.

Yes, that’s coming from the manager. I approved a reader’s comment last night asking where I got such a ridiculous idea. It came from the manager. I don’t just make up this stuff.

Showalter has stated publicly that Uehara isn’t ready to go back-to-back, but the right-hander only threw five pitches last night. He’s warmed up the last two nights, which could be a concern, but if he says he’s ready, give him the ball in a tight game.

Kevin Gregg is still the closer. Showalter has also made that point perfectly clear. But Uehara is a strike-thrower. He’s also pretty fresh. The guy hasn’t been on the mound much. He’s either in the bullpen or retiring hitters in rapid fashion.
