Bowie needs a win this afternoon, coupled with a Richmond loss at Altoona, to make the Eastern League playoffs for the first time since 2008. If that happens, Bowie finishes a half-game ahead of Richmond at 75-66 to 75-67.

The Richmond game is set for noon start, but there is a chance of rain in the Altoona area. In the event that game got rained out and Bowie wins here today, the Baysox would host Richmond tomorrow night at 7 p.m. in a one-game playoff for second place and a playoff berth.

The Baysox crushed Erie here 10-2 yesterday behind a 17-hit attack and Mike Ballard’s seven shutout innings.

Check my blog throughout the day for updates from Bowie.

The Single-A Frederick Keys wrap up their regular season today at Wilmington. Frederick will host games one and two of the Carolina League playoffs on Wednesday and Thursday.

Kipp Schutz suffered a concussion last night and outfielder Steven Bumbry recently suffered a hamate bone injury. Schutz will go on the DL and Bumbry’s season is over due to that injury.

Outfielder Glynn Davis is moving from short-season Single-A Aberdeen to Frederick and will likely stay with the Keys for the playoffs. Also reliever Sean Gleason, now with Norfolk, is likely to return to Frederick for the playoffs.
