Bundy felt more discomfort in his right forearm, near his elbow, while throwing from 120 feet Monday morning in Sarasota. Bundy felt more discomfort in his right forearm, near his elbow, while throwing from 120 feet Monday morning in Sarasota. Wasting no time, he flew into Baltimore for yesterday’s exam and immediately headed back down to Florida for today’s visit.

Slated to begin the season in Double-A Bowie’s rotation, Bundy hasn’t pitched since spring training because of stiffness near his right elbow. He received a Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injection from Andrews on April 29 and was told to rest for six weeks.

Andrews cleared Bundy, the fourth overall pick in the 2011 First-Year Player Draft, to begin a throwing progression on June 10. However, he had to be shut down again after expanding the sessions to 120 feet.

Bundy’s older brother, Bobby, underwent surgery last week to remove a bone chip from his right elbow. He hasn’t pitched since going 2-11 with a 6.25 ERA in 17 starts for Bowie in 2012.

Bobby Bundy, an eighth-round selection out of Sperry High School in Oklahoma in 2008, emerged as one of the top pitching prospects in the organization after going 11-5 with a 2.75 ERA in 20 starts at Single-A Frederick in 2011. But he struggled against Eastern League hitters after moving up, was shut down last summer because of elbow discomfort and had bone spurs removed by Dr. Jeff Angel of Batesville, Ark., on July 21.

Update: Infielder Yamaico Navarro has cleared waivers and been outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk.
