As I wrote earlier, the Orioles want Chad Moeller to stay at Triple-A Norfolk and continue working with young pitchers such as Chris Tillman, Jake Arrieta, Troy Patton and Brandon Erbe. But they understand his desire to play in the majors and will attempt to work out a deal for him.

But they understand his desire to play in the majors and will attempt to work out a deal for him.
“We want to see how this unfolds with (Craig) Tatum,” manager Dave Trembley said. “This doesn’t mean it’s etched in stone, but we want to give Tatum a shot. We like the way he throws. We’re confident that he can work with the pitchers and with (Rick) Kranitz and (Jeff) Datz on the game reports and the scouting reports. We want to give him an opportunity to do that. It doesn’t mean out of sight, out of mind, go to Triple-A and we’ll forget about you.
“(Moeller) understands very well and it’s difficult for him right now. He’s 35. The days of his career are dwindling. I told him we’d love to have him go to Triple-A. Go think about it. I was going to play him last night. I didn’t. I sent him home. I was going to play him today. I didn’t.
“He’s going to have to come to us and tell us what it is he wants to do. I told him, ‘If you love it, keep playing. If you don’t, then you have to think about it and talk to you wife.’ I want him to keep playing. I hope he does. I hope he’s part of this organization.”
Tatum went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored in today’s 10-9 loss to the Tigers. His second single was a broken-bat looper that fell in the infield in the ninth inning.
