It reminded me of the night Cal Ripken Jr. voluntarily ended his consecutive games streak. The first pitch was thrown, Ripken’s image appeared on the video board, and the Yankees stepped out of the dugout to salute him.

This game is scoreless in the bottom of the second inning. Ryan Adams has made two diving stops and throws to retire Curtis Granderson and Robinson Cano.

Robert Andino reached base on Alex Rodriguez’s error in the bottom of the first. He stole second, took third on catcher Russell Martin’s throwing error, and was stranded when Vladimir Guerrero bounced out.
