Nick Markakis is 3-for-5 with three RBIs, including a two-run shot in the seventh inning that wiped out Detroit’s 1-0 lead, and Felix Pie has two hits and an RBI in his return.
Will it be enough?
The Tigers scored twice in the eighth against Jason Berken to dial up the drama.
It’s up to Alfredo Simon to record the five-out save.
More drama.
Update: Miguel Cabrera hit a two-run homer off Simon in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game, 5-5. More frustration.

Jake Arrieta held the Tigers to one run over 6 1/3 innings. Very impressive.
Matt Wieters tripled. Very improbable.
Actually, Wieters’ first major league hit was a triple, but speed isn’t one of his tools.
Left-hander Michael Gonzalez turned in a 13-pitch, 1-2-3 inning tonight at short-season Single-A Aberdeen. Check out Steve Melewski’s blog for more details and quotes from Gonzalez.
Another left-hander, Triple-A Norfolk’s Zach Britton, gave up three earned runs (four total) and seven hits in 4 2/3 innings against Gwinnett. He walked two and struck out four.
I’d be a lot more productive tonight if my Verizon wireless card wasn’t performing its daily torture routine on me and my ThinkPad (which doesn’t want to know what I think of it) wasn’t adding more misery to my life.
One of them is getting hurled onto the street tonight. I’m undecided which one.
I can probably get more bounces from the wireless card, but the laptop would explode into more pieces.
Tough call.
