What’s been a frustrating road trip to begin the season’s second half continues tonight at 7:05 p.m. when the O’s play at New York.
Rich Hill (3-2, 7.22) will start for Baltimore and Sergio Mitre (4-1, 2.32 in minors) for the Yankees.
The O’s were frustrated on Monday night when they had two runners make outs at the plate in the 8th inning, then saw Hideki Matsui hit a walk-off homer in the 9th for a 2-1 New York win.
It was the Yankees’ 4th walk-off homer of this season, tying Texas for the Major League lead.

The Yankees last three wins have come by 2-1 scores.
Even though they had only six hits (to New York’s four) the O’s out-hit their opponent for the fourth time in four games on this road trip. Yet they have lost three of four on the trip.
The Orioles are 1-12 this season in road games vs. AL East opponents. They are just 2-23 in the last 25 road games in the division.
The O’s fell to 11-11 in one-run games after Monday’s loss.
After scoring 21 runs on 37 hits in the series at Chicago to start this trip, the Birds had just one run on six hits vs. three New York pitchers last night.
The O’s are 13-20 on the season vs. AL East foes.
The Yankees moved to a season-best 18 games over .500 with the win. New York’s record of 42-22 is best in the Majors since May 8th.
The Yankees are 4-0 during a ten-game homestand and are 24-9 over their last 33 home games.
The Yankees, winner of six of the last seven series, have won four in a row, seven of ten and 17 of 22 games.
The O’s are just 3-7 on the year vs. the Yankees, including a mark of 0-4 at New York. The O’s have lost eight in a row at New York and five in a row overall this season vs. the Yankees.
