Infielder Justin Turner is leaving Triple-A Norfolk and coming to Baltimore today, which would indicate that the Orioles are ready to place second baseman Brian Roberts on the disabled list.
Turner’s primary position is second. He’s also on the 40-man roster.
Turner is 2-for-8 with a run scored, two walks and three strikeouts in two games with the Tides. He hit .300 in 108 games with Norfolk last season, and .167 with three RBIs in 12 games as a rookie with the Orioles.

Julio Lugo figures to make most of the starts in Roberts’ absence, but Turner provides depth at the position. Lugo also is the backup shortstop.
Roberts told me this morning that his strained abdominal muscle hadn’t improved. He received more treatment and ate breakfast before attending chapel.
“I’m still waiting to see a doctor one more time this morning, just kind of see where we are and how long it’s going to be. I don’t think we have an answer yet for sure,” Roberts said.
“It feels pretty similar, but it’s one of those things that I think is sometimes hard to predict. But we’re going to try to make a prediction even though it’s hard to.”
