Justin Turner is moving gingerly through the clubhouse with his left foot wrapped after being hit by a Garrett Atkins line drive during batting practice before Friday night’s game.
Turner is hoping that he’ll be cleared to play tomorrow.
“It’s getting better,” he said. “It’s still a little swollen. The swelling went down a little in my toes. Basically, I’ll try to be as active as possible and keep all my muscles down there active so they don’t quit on me. Hopefully play some catch…Justin Turner is moving gingerly through the clubhouse with his left foot wrapped after being hit by a Garrett Atkins line drive during batting practice before Friday night’s game.

“It’s getting better,” he said. “It’s still a little swollen. The swelling went down a little in my toes. Basically, I’ll try to be as active as possible and keep all my muscles down there active so they don’t quit on me. Hopefully play some catch today, do some stuff in the cage and hopefully be back on the field close to full activity tomorrow.”
Turner was taking ground balls at second when his foot got in the way of Atkins’ liner.
“I didn’t see it off the bat,” he said. “I heard a ‘watch out,’ but it was too late.”
X-rays taken that day were negative.
“Nothing’s broken,” he said. “It’s just a pretty good bruise and a lot of swelling down there.”
