An MRI revealed a “mild strain,” according to an Orioles official.
Wilson said he’s hoping for a speedy recovery and he feels a little better every day. He’s 5-5 with a 3.05 ERA in 16 starts with Norfolk and 2-1 with a 2.19 ERA in six games (two starts) with the Orioles.
The Tides activated right-hander Matt Buschmann, who was acquired from the Reds this week for cash considerations. He’s scheduled to start Thursday in Durham.
Meanwhile, the Orioles are being no-hit through five innings by Mariners’ right-hander Hisashi Iwakuma. Manny Machado and Chris Davis walked in the fourth, but Jimmy Paredes struck out on a slider in the dirt.
Kevin Gausman has allowed three runs and thrown 79 pitches in four innings. His eight strikeouts are a career high.
The pitch count is an issue for a team with a thin bullpen.
