Jeremy Guthrie gave up four hits, including Hanley Ramirez’s two-run double. He hit his second batter of the game, Jorge Cantu, who followed Ramirez to the plate, and umpire Doug Eddings warned both benches.
Guthrie also walked leadoff hitter Cody Ross to start the rally, and second baseman Scott Moore failed to glove Chris Coghlan’s liner up the middle that scored the second run of the inning. That ball should have been caught.
Guthrie looked dejected as he walked off the mound after the final out. He lowered his head and took a few steps toward the dugout immediately after Dan Uggla lifted a fly ball toward center field Adam Jones, pausing to make sure it stayed in the ballpark.
Instant update: Matt Wieters just hit a three-run homer to left field in the bottom of the second inning to reduce Florida’s lead to 4-3.
Guthrie has thrown 55 pitches through two innings.
