Chris Tillman could make his next start for the Orioles on Sept. 11 if he doesn’t experience any setbacks in his recovery from right shoulder bursitis.
Tillman hasn’t pitched since Aug. 20 against the Astros, when he allowed six runs and walked five batters in two innings.

Darren O’Day also played catch today in the outfield and will throw off a half-mound on Sunday. He hasn’t pitched since Aug. 11 in Oakland due to a strained right rotator cuff.
Rule 5 outfielder Joey Rickard had his right thumb examined today and is cleared to begin full baseball activities.
Rickard is on the 60-day disabled list and eligible to return on Sept. 19. The Orioles should know within a week whether he can avoid surgery.
Manager Buck Showalter remains optimistic that Rickard will play later this month. Rickard’s last appearance came on July 20 in New York, where he sustained a slight tear in a ligament in his right thumb.
Showalter said a few more players could be called up after the minor league seasons end on Sept. 5. The candidates include non-roster players such as Double-A Bowie outfielders Julio Borbon and Chris Dickerson, though they’re not needed as much now that the Orioles acquired veteran outfielders Drew Stubbs and Michael Bourn.
Showalter likes Triple-A Norfolk shortstop Paul Janish, but isn’t sure whether the veteran will have his contract selected.
Pitcher Bobby Bundy, older brother of Orioles starter Dylan Bundy, has moved up from Bowie to Norfolk.
The Orioles chose Single-A Delmarva left-hander Brian Gonzalez as the organization’s minor league Pitcher of the Month for August and Shorebirds outfielder Randolph Gassaway as the Player of the Month.
