The Orioles are just in a brutal slump right now that has impacted most of the players on the team:

* Robert Andino has just four hits his last 30 at-bats.
* Chris Davis is 0-for-27 his last eight games.
* J.J. Hardy is 3-for-37 his last nine games.
* Adam Jones has just one RBI his past 12 games.
* Mark Reynolds is just 2-for-23 his last eight games.
* Brian Roberts is 1-for-11 and without an RBI his last seven games.
* Steve Pearce is 3-for-18 his last seven games.

The Orioles have lost five of seven heading into tonight’s game with the Angels. But after tonight, the Orioles play four in a row against Cleveland, which ranks 13th in the AL in ERA (4.61), and then three against Seattle, which is 10th at 4.20.

But before they get to those teams with lesser pitching, tonight the Orioles face Jered Weaver, who beat them in April with a complete-game, five-hitter. Weaver is 7-1 with a 2.40 ERA.

But, over his last four starts, Weaver has a 1.29 ERA and .137 batting average against. So a team that is not scoring much faces another hot pitcher tonight. Maybe the reverse lock theory will be in effect.

Maybe the Orioles bats will start to heat up as the team tries to stay in the race heading into the All-Star break.

On the farm, the longest scoreless streak in Frederick Keys history came to an end last night in Zebulon, N.C. After three scoreless innings, Carolina scored four runs in the fourth to ending a stretch of 32 2/3 shutout innings for Frederick. The Keys lost to Carolina, 8-6.
