Tillman has allowed one run, on Colby Rasmus’ first homer with the Blue Jays, in four innings. He’s allowed two hits, walked none and struck out five. He’s thrown 47 pitches, 31 for strikes.

Tillman struck out the side in the fourth, his last pitch a 91 mph cutter to Adam Lind. He blew a 94 mph fastball past Jose Bautista,…Because we like to pair them together.

Here’s the concern: Tillman isn’t the best pitcher in this game.

Toronto’s Brandon Morrow has retired all nine batters he faced. He’s got no-hit stuff tonight.

Morrow struck out Blake Davis on a 98 mph fastball to end the third inning.

Down on the farm, Triple-A Norfolk’s Brian Matusz has held Rochester to one run and five hits in five innings. He’s walked two and struck out five.

Matusz has thrown 79 pitches, 50 for strikes.

Update: The Jays loaded the bases with no outs in the sixth on a walk, single and hit batter, but they scored only once to increase their lead to 2-0.

Jose Molina made it home on Bautista’s fly ball to medium center field with one out, barely beating Adam Jones’ throw. The ball skipped past catcher Matt Wieters.

Nice job of damage control by Tillman.

Morrow retired the first 15 Orioles, but Nolan Reimold led off the bottom of the sixth with a single on a 3-1 pitch – Morrow’s 61st pitch of the night.

Meanwhile, Matusz allowed one run and five hits over seven innings, with two walks and six strikeouts. He threw 102 pitches, 66 for strikes.
