But, being around the Orioles for years now, I have felt the carryover of the Earl of Baltimore into Camden Yards. Nothing makes me appreciate the game more than hearing stories about Earl Weaver’s passion and fire.

The Orioles, and the way that I see the team now, would be nothing like they are currently without Weaver. He has created so many memories for fans and for the media that have been crafted into beautiful stories for me. And for that, I am eternally grateful.

Rest in peace, Mr. Weaver.

The news that Weaver had passed away broke on Saturday, the day of FanFest, in which a record-breaking 18,000 fans came out to the Baltimore Convention Center. While the day was a celebration and a happy day, fans also took the time, along with Jim Palmer, Dan Duquette, Buck Showalter and others, to remember the legendary skipper.

Last night, news broke that the Orioles had reached an agreement with former Braves pitcher Jair Jurrjens.

Spring training tickets will go on sale Saturday, and 16 games will be broadcast on WBAL Radio.
