Using quotes of Orioles, from Boog Powell to Earl Weaver, Eisenberg has taught me Orioles history through first-hand accounts. While I have yet to finish the book, I have been reminded of the rich history of Baltimore baseball while simultaneously watching current Orioles in the World Baseball Classic and spring training this week.

While I have yet to finish the book, I have been reminded of the rich history of Baltimore baseball while simultaneously watching current Orioles in the World Baseball Classic and spring training this week.

Talk about perspective. As I continue to read the accounts, I get to wonder which Orioles are currently working their way toward their place in the history books.

This week, there were many memorable and notable moments surrounding the Orioles, including standout players in the World Baseball Classic. From Jonathan Schoop’s monster home run for the Netherlands to Adam Jones’ big knock versus Canada to Pedro Strop’s multiple outings of dominance for the Dominican Republic, Orioles players have made themselves known as they represent their respective countries.

In spring training, the Orioles saw their top pitching prospects, Kevin Gausman and Dylan Bundy, take the mound Saturday and yesterday in Sarasota.

While the Orioles are nursing some injuries, they still have a few weeks to recover before opening day. Although Nick Markakis has a slight herniated disc in his neck, he’s optimistic about playing April 2. Also confident for opening day is Brian Roberts, who has been playing without any health issues in camp.
