One of the last serene moments for Camden Yards unfolded today with no game and the Orioles and Twins workouts set for Wednesday afternoon. A tractor manicured the field. And media was invited to take a tour and check out the new additions to the ballpark.
Kind of the calm before partly sunny Opening Day.
“This has been about making sure that Camden Yards remains as iconic and as amazing for all of our fans, looking forward as it is looking backwards,” said Catie Griggs, Orioles president of business operations.
“We know that we are already in one of the most iconic and most special ballparks in baseball. The goal this offseason was not to change that. The goal this offseason was to make sure that we took all of the things that make this ballpark special and make sure that it’s special for years to come, and make sure that it remains a place where everyone in our community feels welcome, feels wanted, and can come and have an incredible experience.”
Among the new features:
*The Purewager Pavilion is a covered patio beneath the huge videoboard with an awesome view of center field. It comes with a ballpark fare menu and private bar and is available for private groups of up to 300 guests.
When the space isn’t booked for private events, it will be open to all fans and feature beer, wine and spirits.
Not former Orioles greats. The other kind of spirits.
“We are really excited about adding this amenity to Camden Yards,” said chief revenue officer Don Rovak. “One of the things when we spoke with our fans and learned from groups is we did not have a great place where people, companies, could enjoy a group setting while watching the game. So if you’re in an area that accommodates a little bit north of 300 people, it’ll include seating down below and then allow kind of a picnic that will start pregame and then go all the way through the seventh inning.
“We’ve had a lot of people so far show excitement for it. We’re continuing to learn from our customers and how to operate it and how to execute, how to market it. But it definitely got quite a bit of eyeballs on it Sunday, the exhibition game, so really excited about bringing this amenity to life.”
*The center field videoboard can’t be missed, whatever the condition of your eyeballs. It’s 2 1/2 times larger than the previous one and features more than 16.7 million pixels.
The LED ribbon board spans 1,125 total feet and compliments the new, and larger, out-of-town scoreboard in right field.
All new boards boast 4K resolution, and the enhanced sound system offers – and it’s quite noticeable – enhanced clarity and increased volume. Modern high-tech speakers distribute the audio more effectively throughout the ballpark.
The Orioles offered a demonstration today, including a hype video that covered teams and iconic moments from the past and present.
The Delmon Double is gonna give some of you goosebumps.
*The clock atop the main videoboard was refurbished this offseason, receiving a new internal mechanism, clock face and neon “Orioles” lettering.
If you’re wondering, it’s 14 feet in diameter with a base that stretches 31 feet. The lettering is 3 feet high, and the clock weighs 5,000 pounds. So don’t try to sneak it out of the ballpark after hours.
*The old press box location is now home of the Truist Club, a 350-seat destination. The minimum cost is a 40-game membership at $15,000 – or $375 per ticket.
This is the ballpark’s first-ever premium club. The features include VIP parking, a private entrance and access to exclusive events and experiences, like opportunities to watch batting practice from the field and participate in baseball events featuring intimate conversations with Orioles baseball and business executives.
The outdoor seats in front of the Club are mesh with extra back support. They’re much more comfortable that typical ballpark chairs, according to butts with direct knowledge of the seating.

*The right field flag court bar is under construction and should open after the All-Star break.
This one is open to the public and feature a wraparound bar at one of Camden Yards’ most popular gathering spots. A few home run balls have been known to crash the parties.
*Ten suites were removed on the club level to accommodate two huge climate-controlled bars on the first and third base sides. It lets fans enjoy a “social environment,” Rovak said.
The views of the field are tremendous.

The Home Plate Club was renovated during the offseason.
Also worth mentioning:
*There’s a new team store on the club level at section 216 that’s 1 ½ times the size of the original.
*The ballpark is now equipped with Internet Protocol Television, which delivers television programming, live channels and video-on-demand from an internet connection. The more than 600 TVs at the ballpark can air live action, replays and stats, which prevents fans from missing out on the action while away from their seats.
*A new control room was built to support the videoboards and sound system.
*The Orioles are tweaking their in-game entertainment with a new Crab Shuffle, a new Hot Dog Race, upgraded hype videos and other features. A group of about 15 Camden Crew members will be stationed around the ballpark to assist with in-game promotions, crowd engagement and on-field entertainment.
*This season features an extensive slate of promotional items highlighted by bobbleheads of Pete Alonso, Samuel Basallo, Jackson Holliday and Coconut, Gunnar Henderson and Jordan Westburg, as well as Tupac. There’s also hot dog race caps, a soccer jersey and beach towel, plus fan-favorites like the floppy hat, Hawaiian shirt and hockey jersey.
Hawaiian shirts will be distributed to adults July 24-25 and to kids on July 26.

*New food items for 2026:
Crab smash tacos (The Baltimore Seafood House)
The Big Scrap Burger featuring scrapple (Bleacher Grill off Eutaw Street)
B’More Yak yakamein dish (Eutaw Street Butchery)
Kat’s Japanese Cheesesteak sandwich (All-Star Kitchen near Sections 214 and 256)
The Baltimore Chop sandwiches (Section 236)
Sweet Graffiti Desserts (Section 234)
Meatball smash burgers (Eutaw Street Butchery)
Baltimore banana pudding (Charm City Chicken Shacks near Sections 15, 65 and 79)
Chili dog (Birdland Market near Section 35)
The Baltimore Dawg featuring fried bologna (All-Star Kitchen near Sections 214 and 256)
Birdland Kosher (Section 83)
I can vouch for the crab smash tacos, Kat’s Japanese cheesesteak and B’More Yak yakamein dish. And I stuffed a chocolate whoopie pie in both coat pockets for later.
My shame was left at the door. And it seemed important to educate myself and the public.

*The Orioles signed right-hander Elvis Peguero to a minor league contract for 2026 and 2027.
Peguero, 29, has registered a 4.26 ERA and 1.482 WHIP in 135 games over parts of five seasons with the Angels, Brewers and White Sox. He made 52 appearances with Milwaukee in 2024 and posted a 2.98 ERA, but also a 1.539 WHIP.
Peguero had a 3.38 ERA and 1.223 WHIP in 59 games with the Brewers in 2023. He’s surrendered only 13 home runs in 141 2/3 innings in the majors and 28 in 298 innings in the minors.
Last season ended with Peguero on the injured list with an elbow strain.
*Orioles affiliates posted their break camp rosters, which include catcher Creed Willems moving up to Triple-A Norfolk.
Other players could be added after the Orioles set their Opening Day roster. For example, catcher Sam Huff.
Left-hander Luis De León, the No. 4 prospect per MLB Pipeline, is on Double-A Chesapeake’s roster, but he’s expected to pitch in Triple-A later this summer. Infielder Aron Estrada (No. 9), pitcher Tyson Neighbors (No. 17) and outfielder Thomas Sosa (No. 20) also are with the Baysox.
Pitcher Esteban Mejia (No. 8) and outfielder Jordan Sanchez (No. 18) are on Single-A Delmarva’s break camp roster. High-A Frederick is loaded, with names like outfielders Nate George (No. 3), Ike Irish (No. 6) and spring training slugger Vance Honeycutt, infielder Wehiwa Aloy (No. 7), and left-hander Joseph Dzierwa (No. 14), the Spring Breakout standout.
