Catcher Matt Wieters expects to be in the lineup for the last two games of the series against the Royals, who will be starting right-handers Yordano Ventura and Johnny Cueto.
Wieters underwent an MRI on his left wrist yesterday that came back clean. Adam Jones underwent an MRI on his right shoulder today that also came back clean. Jones returned to the lineup tonight.
Wieters said his wrist is more sore when batting from the right side, which is why he didn’t play Wednesday against Yankees left-hander CC Sabathia and is out of the lineup tonight against left-hander Danny Duffy.

“I would probably be OK for one at-bat,” Wieters said, “but not three or four.”
Wieters’ surgically repaired elbow is fine.
Manager Buck Showalter said Wieters is available tonight in “some fashion.” He doesn’t want to broadcast Wieters’ status to the other team.
“I’m not getting into handicapping what he can and can’t do,” Showalter said.
Wei-Yin Chen is the confirmed starter for Sunday night against the Royals. Showalter is keeping his starters in turn.
