Wieters leads Birds rout of Cleveland

Matt Wieters had a career-high four RBI while Felix Pie and Nick Markakis added three each in the O’s 13-4 rout of Cleveland on Friday night.
The O’s scored 11 runs from the 4th through the 7th to turn a close game into a blowout.
Wieters went 3 for 4 with two doubles and single. Pie had three hits including a double and solo homer before leaving the game with an apparent hamstring injury in the 7th. Markakis had three hits including a three-run homer.

It was the O’s second highest run total of the year, topped only by the 16 runs vs. the Angels on August 14th. The Birds 15 hits is four off the season high.
Luke Scott had two hits and tied his career-high by scoring three runs.
Quite a night of offense for a team that had scored three runs or less in 18 of 40 games since the All-Star break.
Winning pitcher Jason Berken gave up two runs and five hits over five innings. He is now 4-11. Losing pitcher Fausto Carmona gave up six runs over 4 2/3.
The O’s improve to 5-4 over the last nine games and 31-32 at home. Cleveland is now 22-17 in the second half.
