In case you haven’t noticed, the Orioles are scoring some runs lately. They have scored 38 the last five games and 77 in the last 13, averaging 5.9 per game in that time as they began play tonight.
They have scored 27 runs on 36 hits in the last four games vs. the Yankees.
The homers are up, too. The Orioles have hit 17 over the last eight games and they haven’t all been hit by Mark Reynolds, although he’s been the clear ringleader.

The latest homer count:
* Chris Davis has six over his last 13 games.
* Adam Jones has hit four the last 10 games.
* Matt Wieters has hit six over his last 25 games.
* Reynolds has four in three games, eight his last seven and 11 homers over his past 22.
The Orioles’ 176 homers on the season now ranks second-best in the AL to New York’s 204. The Orioles have hit 12 homers over the last four games against the Yankees. In those four games, they don’t have any doubles or triples, but do have the 12 homers. Yes, that is kind of strange.
Reynolds, by the way, once had a stretch of seven homers over seven games, but never eight in a seven-game span as he has coming into tonight. He did hit seven in seven games from July 29-August 3, 2009.
The Orioles have hit 101 homers at Camden Yards this season. That is the third-most home homers in the majors behind the Yankees (117) and Brewers (104).
After six: Jones added to that homer total. It was a three-run shot, and his 29th of the year pulled the Orioles to within 7-3 in the sixth after the Yankees hit three homers and scored seven off Wei-Yin Chen in 4 2/3 innings.
