They begin this series having lost 14 straight and 23 of their last 25 at Toronto. They went 3-15 against the Jays last year, including an 0-9 mark in Canada.

The Orioles’ records the past five seasons there are 3-7, 3-6, 3-6, 1-8 and 0-9. Yes, that is 1-17 the last two years at Toronto.

Perhaps making the Orioles’ job more difficult in this series is the beating that Boston just put on the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre. The Red Sox swept that weekend series by scores of 5-1, 16-4 and 14-1.

So Toronto will enter this game with a four-game losing streak overall but with a 14-game home winning streak against the Orioles. In the season series last year, Toronto outscored the Orioles 93-51 and out-homered them 34-8.

Toronto is now 32-34 and just a half-game ahead of the Orioles in the standings, so a Baltimore win tonight would move the O’s ahead of Toronto and into fourth place.

The Orioles lost two of three at home versus the Blue Jays from June 3-5, losing the series opener 8-4, then winning 5-3 and losing 7-4.

Toronto slugger Jose Bautista had just one hit in that series, going 1-for-9 for a batting average of .111. But he walked five times for an on-base percentage of .429. Over his last 16 home games against the Orioles, Bautista is batting .382 with seven homers and 16 RBIs.

The Orioles certainly seem due to pick up a few wins in Toronto. Maybe it starts tonight.
