So as they begin a series with Philadelphia tonight, the Orioles are looking for some wins, and to get them, they’ll likely need to start scoring some more runs.

While there has been a lot of focus on the club’s starting pitching lately, the Orioles’ hitters did not have a great road trip.

Here are some notes about the offense in recent games:

* The Orioles have just nine hits and two runs over the last two games.

* The Orioles have gone three games in a row without a homer for the first time all year.

* The Orioles have hit just three homers the last seven games.

* During the road trip, the Orioles scored two runs or less six times and were shutout twice.

* The Orioles scored just 25 runs and hit only .233 as a team on the road trip.

* Going back to the last two games of the last homestand, the Orioles have now scored just 30 runs the past 11 games.

This all comes at a time when the Orioles are trying to get by without two starting outfielders, when Matt Wieters is just coming out of a slump and when Adam Jones has been dealing with bruised wrists.

Maybe playing at home will help get the Orioles’ bats going again. The team hits better at home, batting .255, scoring 4.52 runs per game and slugging .447. On the road, those numbers are .241, 4.13 and .401.

Maybe the Orioles’ bats will get going tonight against struggling Phillies right-hander Joe Blanton, who is 4-6 with a 5.27 ERA. Over his last four starts, Blanton is 0-3 with an ERA of 10.98 and has given up 10 homers in 19 2/3 innings.

The Orioles return home in first place. Can they stay there if the bats don’t get going soon?
