Reimold agreed with that assessment.

“I feel good right now, physically I feel great,” Reimold said. “I have been more comfortable at the plate the last week or so. It’s a good time to come up.”

Reimold had hit safely in his last four Triple-A games, going 6-for-16 with a double, two homers and four RBIs. Overall, he was batting just .237 with six doubles, six homers, 22 RBIs and an OPS of .739.

“I just hadn’t gotten hot yet,” he said. “I’ve had a decent number of RBIs and home runs. I’d been hitting the ball a little better the last week or so. You just have to stay ready. I had a good spring and went down to Norfolk and have started to hit the ball a little better. It’s kind of unexpected (this call-up), but I’m happy to be here.”

He said it was unexpected because he didn’t get a call until 11:30 last night with the news he was returning to the Orioles.

After spending most of last year in Triple-A and then starting out there this year, he said he can appreciate getting a big league chance more now than he ever could.

“Absolutely. You can’t take it for granted,” he said. “You learn that. Make the best of it while you are here and you want to stay here.”

Reimold was asked what it would take to recapture the form he showed in 2009 when he batted .279 with 15 homers and 45 RBIs in 104 games.

“I don’t know. Baseball is a funny game. I feel good, you just have to be consistent with your approach, have confidence in it and you’ll be all right,” Reimold said.
