The Orioles had to use the injured list again today.

Left-hander Grant Wolfram is sidelined by a lower-back strain, with the 15-day IL move retroactive to Saturday. Tyler Wells was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk to keep the bullpen count at eight.

The day began with the Orioles carrying four lefty relievers, including Keegan Akin, Dietrich Enns and Josh Walker. Walker had his contract selected yesterday, which apparently was related to Wolfram’s back issue.

Wolfram is subtracted after posting a 4.85 ERA and 1.538 WHIP in 16 appearances. He walked one batter and struck out 20.

Wolfram hasn’t allowed a home run in 34 consecutive innings.

Wells returns before his minimum 15 days in the minors because he’s replacing an injured pitcher. The Orioles optioned him May 2.

The arm is fresh. Wells was used only once with Triple-A Norfolk, allowing an unearned run in Friday in 1 1/3 innings.. He registered a 3.44 ERA in 14 appearances with the Orioles and surrendered only two home runs in 18 1/3 innings.

The IL was down to 11 players after Trevor Rogers’ reinstatement earlier today, but it didn’t last.

Eighteen different Orioles have landed on the IL this season.

*Reliever Lou Trivino cleared outright waivers and elected free agency today in lieu of accepting an outright assignment to Norfolk.

Trivino appeared in two games and allowed six runs and six hits in three innings. He tossed 2 1/3 scoreless innings Sunday against the Athletics.

*Center fielder Dylan Beavers was scratched from the lineup with right oblique discomfort, threatening to make him the 19th different Orioles player on the injured list.

Colton Cowser starts in center field.

Beavers is batting .243/.331/.369 in 33 games.

*Due to the threat of inclement weather, the Orioles have moved up Wednesday’s start time from 6:35 p.m. to 1:05 p.m.

Gates will open at 12 p.m.

Tickets dated for Wednesday’s originally scheduled game will still be valid and no action is needed. For any fans holding tickets to Wednesday’s game and who are unable to attend at the new time should visit Orioles.com/Weather for options.
