Right-hander Yordano Ventura (13-8, 4.08 ERA) takes the mound for the Royals against right-hander Noah Syndergaard (9-7, 3.24 ERA). Ventura is 0-1 with a 5.09 ERA in the postseason and Syndergaard is 1-1 with a 2.77 ERA along with 20 strikeouts over 13 innings.

The radar guns should be busy tonight. Syndergaard has an average fastball velocity of 97.1 mph and has thrown 22 pitches at 100 mph or more in the postseason. Ventura’s average velocity is 96.3 mph.

Kansas City has scored 12 runs on 21 hits in the first two games. The Royals are averaging 5.77 runs per game in the postseason, scoring 66 runs their last 10 playoff games.

The Mets have been held to five runs on 13 hits with just one extra-base hit (a homer) so far. Their team average in the World Series is .165 with a .203 slugging percentage. The foursome of Daniel Murphy, David Wright, Curtis Granderson and Yoenis Cespedes is batting a combined .158 (6-for-38) to date.
