The Orioles trailed 3-2 after Curtis Granderson homered onto Eutaw St. in the top of the fifth. Robert Andino led off the bottom half with a walk, and Avery followed with his triple into the right-field corner.

Granderson became the 61st player to deposit a ball onto Eutaw St., and the 36th opponent. He hadn’t done it before tonight. It’s happened four times this season.

Only two of Granderson’s 12 home runs this season have come on the road.

Update: The Yankees loaded the bases with no outs in the sixth, and Luis Ayala replaced Jason Hammel. Chris Davis misplayed Raul Ibanez’s bouncer to first, allowing two runs to score and tying the game, 5-5.

Hammel is charged with five runs (four earned) and seven hits in five-plus innings, with three walks and three strikeouts. He threw 95 pitches, 60 for strikes.

Hammel hadn’t allowed more than two earned runs in his first six starts. The five innings matches his season low.

Update II: Luis Ayala hadn’t surrendered a home run this season until Mark Teixeira’s two-run shot in the seventh gave New York a 7-5 lead.
