Suk-min Yoon will make his Orioles debut Saturday after obtaining his work visa in Ottawa. He’s sitting at his locker this morning.
Yoon said “everything went well” in Ottawa, other than his cancelled flight on Wednesday, and he’s looking forward to pitching this weekend.
“I’m excited to throw Saturday,” he said. “Instead of results, I’m looking to get my feel, to get a feel for pitching on a mound.
“I’m nervous every time I throw and tomorrow will be the same thing. I’ll have those butterflies in my stomach, of course, but I’ll be fine.”
Yoon hasn’t been told when he’ll enter the game or been given a pitch count. He could follow starter Chris Tillman to the mound.
As for his opponent, Yoon said, “The Yankees are just another team. I’m hoping for the same results. Just go out there and throw.”
Update: The Orioles announced that they have optioned right-hander Dylan Bundy to Double-A Bowie, bringing the number of players in major league camp to 46.
Bundy wasn’t in the running for a rotation spot, as he’s working his way back from Tommy John surgery.
Bundy is supposed to throw his first true bullpen session on March 31.
