Pitcher Austin Voth has joined the Orioles and is headed to the bullpen.
Voth was claimed off waivers yesterday from the Nationals.
The Orioles designated infielder Chris Owings for assignment to make room for Voth, who’s wearing No. 51.
Owings was 6-for-56 with two doubles, 10 walks and 24 strikeouts in 26 games. He signed a minor league deal on March 15 and served in a super-utility role.
Owings was activated from the bereavement list yesterday.
The Orioles welcome the Cubs to Camden Yards tonight for the first time in five years. A two-game series that features Kyle Bradish starting and Adley Rutschman setting the target.
Rutschman is 0-for-17 since his double in the eighth inning of a May 30 game against the Red Sox.
Bradish is 1-3 with a 6.82 ERA and 1.545 WHIP in seven starts. He’s averaging 9.5 strikeouts per nine innings.
In four starts since his 11-strikeout game in St. Louis, Bradish has allowed 17 runs and 25 hits with eight walks and 19 strikeouts in 16 innings.
Trey Mancini, who’s the designated hitter tonight, has reached base in 28 of his last 29 games since May 8 and owns a .433 OBP with 13 walks during that stretch.
The Orioles are removing pitcher Dean Kremer from his rehab assignment at Triple-A Norfolk and installing him as today’s starter against the Guardians in the last game of the series.
Kremer has tossed nine scoreless innings in three minor league starts, with two hits, two walks and 18 strikeouts.
This is Kremer’s first appearance with the Orioles since he started the first game of a Sept. 11, 2021 doubleheader against the Blue Jays and allowed five runs and seven hits in four innings. Toronto hit three home runs.
The final touches on a season that Kremer wants to forget.
He went 0-7 with a 7.55 ERA and 1.640 WHIP in 13 starts, competed for a rotation spot in spring training, and strained his oblique while warming in the bullpen during the third game at Tropicana Field. Kremer was supposed to enter in relief, but walked to the dugout with the injury.
Robinson Chirinos is catching this afternoon and Ryan Mountcastle is the designated hitter, as the Orioles continue their series against the Guardians at sunny Camden Yards.
Adley Rutschman is counted among the reserves.
Tyler Nevin joins him, with Ramón Urías back at third base.

Ramón Urías is the third baseman again. Rougned Odor gets the start at second base against Mariners right-hander George Kirby.
Bryan Baker is making his second start. Left-hander Zac Lowther was recalled to provide a fresh bullpen arm and provide length.

BOSTON – The Orioles still can claim the five-game series against the Red Sox with a victory tonight that concludes their homestand.
The teams have split the first four games, with the Red Sox cruising yesterday to a 12-2 win.
“We just need to let this one go,” said manager Brandon Hyde. “We’ve been playing good baseball, we’ve played competitively this entire trip.”
Cedric Mullins begins tonight’s game on the bench, with Ryan McKenna in center field.
Austin Hays is leading off and playing right field. Anthony Santander is in left field and batting cleanup.
BOSTON – Left-hander Bruce Zimmermann is on the mound today as the Orioles try to guarantee a series win at Fenway Park.
The Orioles have won two of the first three games. The series concludes Monday night.
Zimmermann has a 3.78 ERA and 1.217 WHIP in nine starts. He surrendered one home run in his first six, but has allowed seven in his last three games.
Adley Rutschman is the designated hitter after catching last night. He’s 5-for-28 (.179) with a triple in seven games.
Trey Mancini is in left field and Austin Hays is on the bench.
BOSTON – The Orioles will begin a day-night doubleheader today at Fenway Park with veteran Jordan Lyles starting the opening game and apparently finish it with Denyi Reyes in the nightcap.
Reyes hasn’t been announced, but the Orioles selected the contract of former first-round draft pick Cody Sedlock from Triple-A Norfolk this morning and he’s in the bullpen.
Beau Sulser isn’t listed among the relievers.
A 40-man roster move is coming to accommodate Sedlock, who leaves the taxi squad and awaits his major league debut.
Reyes would be making his first major league start and only his second appearance. He tossed two scoreless and hitless relief innings on May 13 in Detroit.
NEW YORK – Adley Rutschman is catching on back-to-back nights as the Orioles close out their series against the Yankees.
Rutschman is batting sixth behind designated hitter Ryan Mountcastle.
Mountcastle recorded his 10th multi-hit game of the season last night and is batting .341/.372/.610 with two doubles, three home runs and nine RBIs in his last 10 games.
Rougned Odor hit a go-ahead, three-run homer last night and has a nine-game hitting streak. He’s 10-for-33 during his streak with four doubles, a triple, two home runs and nine RBIs.
Ramón Urías is 7-for-16 with two doubles and a home run in his last four games.
Jorge Mateo has returned to the Orioles lineup for tonight’s game against the Yankees.
Mateo wasn’t available since Sunday’s collision with Detroit’s Spenser Torkelson that left him with a bruised shoulder and chest.
Austin Hays is playing left field on back-to-back nights since returning to the lineup. Tyler Nevin is the first baseman and Anthony Bemboom is catching.
No roster moves have been announced.
Trey Mancini is batting .392 (20-for-51) with two home runs since May 3.
The Orioles have returned home after being swept in Detroit, and Robinson Chirinos is catching tonight.
No roster moves have been announced. No new lockers in the home clubhouse.
Austin Hays is attempting to hit this afternoon. The swelling is down in his left hand, but he remains out of the lineup.
Ramón Urías is batting cleanup and starting at shortstop. Rylan Bannon is playing third base in his first game at Camden Yards.
Tyler Nevin is the first baseman. Ryan McKenna is in left field.
The anticipated matchup is here. The one fans circled when the starters were announced.
Kyle Bradish makes his second major league appearance tonight, as the Orioles try to win for only the third time in 10 games.
The Twins are starting former Orioles first-round draft pick Dylan Bundy, traded to the Angels back in December 2019 for a four-pitcher haul that included Bradish.
Should be fun.
Bradish allowed two earned runs and three total in six innings in his debut Friday night against the Red Sox. He was extended to 81 pitches.
The Orioles close out their series against the Yankees and the homestand with Ryan McKenna starting in center field and Cedric Mullins getting a rest day.
Mullins became the first Oriole last night to homer on a 3-0 count since Manny Machado on April 20, 2018 versus Cleveland.
Austin Hays is leading off and playing left field. Trey Mancini is in right.
Anthony Santander, today’s designated hitter, extended his on-base streak to eight games last night, two short of his career high to start the 2019 season.
Chris Owings is the second baseman and Kelvin Gutiérrez is at third. Ramón Urías goes to the bench.
Ramón Urías is batting second again tonight after last night’s walk-off walk in the 11th inning in a 2-1 win over the Yankees.
Urías is getting another start at third base, with Rougned Odor at second and Jorge Mateo at short. Anthony Bemboom is catching.
Trey Mancini is playing first base.
Anthony Santander has reached base in all seven games. He’s in right field tonight.
Tyler Wells is making his second major league start tonight, and he remains in a tandem setup. He allowed four runs and three hits in 1 2/3 innings against the Rays in the opening series, walking two batters and striking out two.
