Orioles and Braves lineups, plus notes new and old

NORTH PORT, Fla. – Adley Rutschman has made the trip to CoolToday Park for today’s game against the Braves. He’s catching Dean Kremer.

Kremer is making his third start. He’s allowed three runs and six hits with three walks and five strikeouts in four innings.

Jordan Westburg is playing second base, Colton Cowser is in left field and Kyle Stowers is in right. Coby Mayo is the designated hitter.

Ryan McKenna is leading off and playing center field.

Orioles and Guardians lineups in third game of series

CLEVELAND – The Orioles haven’t won a season series against Cleveland since 2016 and are hoping for a split this weekend after losing the first two games.

Gunnar Henderson is playing shortstop. He needs one more extra-base hit to reach 65 and tie Cal Ripken Jr.’s record for most by an Orioles rookie.

Since Sept. 8, Henderson is batting .324 (22-for-68) with four doubles, three triples, four home runs and 11 RBIs.

Adley Rutschman is the designated hitter. Aaron Hicks is in left field.

The bench includes Austin Hays, Heston Kjerstad and Jordan Westburg.

Hays out of lineup again as Orioles finish series in Kansas City (updated)

The Orioles are sending Grayson Rodriguez to the mound this afternoon in Kansas City while trying to claim their seventh series.

Rodriguez is working on regular rest after starting Game 2 of Saturday’s doubleheader in Detroit and earning his first major league win with a career-high nine strikeouts. He hasn’t allowed a run in 14 straight innings going back to Chicago.

Austin Hays is out of the lineup again today. He also didn’t pinch-hit last night, with manager Brandon Hyde choosing Ryan McKenna to bat for Kyle Stowers.

Hays recently returned after bruising his right middle finger on an attempted bunt.

Stowers is in left field again today. Adley Rutschman is the designated hitter.

Orioles and White Sox lineups

Orioles and White Sox lineups

CHICAGO – Adley Rutschman is the designated hitter this afternoon against the White Sox, as the Orioles try to guarantee another series win.

Rutschman ranks second in the American League and third in the majors with a .492 on-base percentage. He’s sixth in the majors with a 1.134 OPS.

Ryan Mountcastle’s 19 RBIs continue to lead the majors.

Gunnar Henderson’s 21 strikeouts are tied for most in the American League, but his 12 walks tie Rutschman for first in the AL.  He’s out of the lineup today.

Kyle Gibson is the first Orioles pitcher in modern franchise history to make three starts in his first three appearances with his new team and win each decision. He has a 3.44 ERA and 1.145 WHIP in 18 1/3 innings.
