There will be books written about baseball Hall of Famer Ted Williams for as long as the printing presses roll.
Williams provided a lot of material in a life filled with his baseball superstar status, turbulent private life, running quarrels with the Boston baseball press and cryogenic ending. In "The Kid," Ben Bradlee Jr. left none of that life untouched in this can't-wait-to-turn-the-page read.

The regular season has begun, meaning the Orioles have made their way out of their spring home in sunny Sarasota. While the players are leaving Florida, the club will continue to have a very strong presence at Ed Smith Stadium, the spring home of the Orioles, and beyond the gates.
The O's impact began in the seats. Many fans were able to escape the cold Maryland weather to enjoy sunny Sarasota and Ed Smith Stadium. A total of 112,258 fans attended the O's 15 home games this spring, for an...

Remember those special caps the Orioles wore for their St. Patrick's Day exhibition game against the Twins? Turns out the wearing 'o the lids raised a lot of green for the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota.
The specially designed caps donned by O's coaches and players were auctioned off, raising more than $7,900 for Selby Gardens as part of "Go Green Day" presented by Waste Pro at Ed Smith Stadium. The annual event highlights environmental stewardship in the Orioles' spring...
St. Patrick's Day won't be the only reason to deck out in green if you're visiting Ed Smith Stadium when the Orioles play the Twins on March 17.
The Orioles announced today that Marie Selby Botanical Gardens will be their partner for "Go Green" Day that day at the park in Sarasota, Fla.
Selby Gardens, a world-renowned botanical research center and leader in environmental education, will benefit from an online auction of specially designed green O's caps autographed by players. The caps...
While the Orioles' location of spring training operations in Sarasota County began as a back-up plan of sorts, it has become a valuable and uniting force between the O's and the county. When the Orioles failed to lock down a long-term deal with the city of Fort Lauderdale for spring operations more than five years ago, they began to look west.
"We did the deal (with Sarasota in 2009) because the (Orioles) ownership felt it was such a good community and such a good fit for the fan base,...
While Orioles fans in the Baltimore area are counting down the days to sunny skies, warm weather and the return of baseball at Camden Yards, a huge flock of O's fans in Sarasota, Fla., is just days away from the return of their favorite team.
Since moving their full-time spring training operations to Sarasota in 2010, the Orioles have been able to make a huge impact on the Florida community within the confines of Ed Smith Stadium - "Birdland South" - and beyond.

It wasn't so long ago that a spring training game was enough of an event to draw fans in Florida and Arizona communities that had no other access to Major League Baseball.
But times change, and even Grapefruit League games need a little creative nudge, something special to bring the fans out.
The Orioles today announced their list of promotional giveaways and special events for spring games at Ed Smith Stadium. Depending on which games you attend in Sarasota - and providing you arrive early...
With the regular season well under way, the Birds are no longer taking the field at Ed Smith Stadium every day. However, the Orioles are still keeping the Sarasota community involved with ballpark entertainment, thanks to its "Arts in the Ballpark" initiative.
For each event, the Orioles transform Ed Smith Stadium, hosting various entertainment acts. Most recently, the Orioles invited the Sarasota community to the ballpark for free concerts from singer-songwriter Margaret Valentine and...
The Orioles may have returned north to start their season, but the team's presence is still strong at the team's spring training home in Sarasota, Fla.
This past Sunday, teams donning black and orange took the field at the Orioles' Ed Smith Stadium for the All-American Family Day & Concert softball game, hosted by the Baltimore Orioles.
The Sarasota All Stars, made up of local celebrities including media members and politicians, squared off against the Manasota Military All Stars, and...
While the start of spring training is still a few weeks away, some Orioles headed to Sarasota this week for mini-camp. Ed Smith Stadium housed pitchers, up-and-comers, players recovering from injuries and some newcomers this week.
Pitchers included Tommy Hunter (the strongest candidate for the O's closer role), Hunter Harvey (the O's first-round pick in 2013), Kevin Gausman, and Dylan Bundy. For the first time in a year, Bundy said that he was throwing without pain, and the right-hander has...
During this frigid time of year, people want to escape to the beach, warmer temperatures and sunny skies.
One place to escape to is Sarasota, the spring training home of the Baltimore Orioles. Since 2010, the Sarasota County tourism industry has benefited greatly from housing the Orioles during spring training.
Not only has the county been able to run "Visit Sarasota" ads during O's and Nats games, it has also seen an increase in visitors from the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area.
And let...
